Nu är det dags, hoppas jag   

Förra året var tanken att det skulle bli valpar mellan Kassi och Hunter, men tyvärr så blev det inte så. Därför provar jag igen detta år. Om allt går som det ska så blir det valpar i december, och naturligtvis så hoppas jag att det går vägen denna gång.

Ja, det har jag. Hade inte tänkt göra det men det blir så i alla fall. Efter mycket tänkande eller kanske inte så mycket, hjärtat har nog fått bestämma en del också.   

I höst så kommer jag att prova att para Kassi med Hunter igen, tror verkligen att de kan komplettera varandra på ett bra sätt. Men då Kassi ändå blir åtta år i december 2014 så kommer naturligtvis veterinären få kolla henne först så att allt är som det ska. Och detta blir sista försöket på henne. Vad är det som är äntligen? 

Jo, äntligen har det hänt. I går tog jag mig i kragen, uppdaterade och gjorde om min hemsida. Det var verkligen på tiden. Har tänkt göra det en längre tid men det har inte blivit av.

Kan i alla fall tala om att det känns väldigt bra att ha fått det gjort och jag hoppas att jag kommer att uppdatera den oftare nu. De nya valpplanerna ligger ute på sidan.

Ta gärna ett titt på hemsidan och lämna gärna ett märke i gästboken, observera att hela sidan är på engelska. Har inte orkat göra på både svenska och engelska, valde då engelska då detta når flera. Kan hända att jag kommer att fixa svenskan också.

Time really flies, today the puppies are 5 whole days old. I love to watch dem even if it doesen't happen so much yet. But one thing they do is wake me up at night, suddenly they get hungry and do not think that the milk begins to flow fast enough. What happens? Well, they get very frustrated and that you can hear. But they are so cute anyway.

Most of the time they sleep and dream, only good dreams I hope. When they don't sleep the favorite place is at the milkbar   

Another thing that I like about puppies is their different sleeping styles, so here is a bunch of photos of that. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do. Click on the pics to get them bigger.

I have decided what names to give the puppie. One of my previous litters got theire names from book written by Janet Evanovich and Ive is one of the pups from that litter. She got the name High Five, it's the title og the fifth book in the book series that I read.   

This time the puppies are going to get names from books as well but not from the same author, this time the author is Sherrilyn Kenyon and her books about the Dark Hunters and Dream Hunters.

The black boy is Dream Hunter, the red boy is Dream Chaser, red girl is No Mercy and the black girl is Night Play. Of course all the puppies have my kennel Miss Amazing's.

On the 12th of december the puppies where born. Four beautiful babies, 2 boys and 2 girls. One of the girls are going to stay with me but I don't know  yet witch one, that will be decided when they are older. Ive is beeing a very good mother, but Kassi thinks that she are the better one for them and whises that she can take them over. Ive is going to have a lot of help with them when tey get older.

Today was the day that Ive was going to get her ultrasound done at the vet. I have been almost sure that she is pregnant but since I have to plan my schedule for work and plan my vaccationtime for the delivery of the puppies I thought it would be best to check.

So at 8.30 am I was at the vet for the ultrasound, my mother and Kassi was also with me and Kassi yoddle a lot at the vet. She's a bit nuts sometimes   but I still love her. I can just say this if Ive's belly would have been empty I would have been very surprised, but it was not empty. The vet said that she could see 3 puppies for sure, but said that it might be 4. She could also se an empty fetal bladder.

Now I just have to wait to see how many puppies will be born in december.

Basenji världen har fått helt underbara nyheter. Även om vår ras i det stora hela är en väldigt frisk ras så finns det naturligtvis sjukdomar som vi arbetar med, precis som på alla andra raser. Den sjukdom som jag personligen tycker är den värsta på vår ras, Basenji, är Fanconis Syndrome. En njursjukdom där njurarna inte tar upp alla näringsämnen. Detta är en sjukdom med dödlig utgång. Vi har under en tid kunnat testa våra hundar med ett markör-test, detta har gjort att vi har kunnat fått reda på om våra hundar har varit fri, anlagsbärare eller sjuka i sjukdomen. Men ett markör test är inget hundra procentigt test vilket har gjort att de provresultat vi fått tillbaka har sagt troligen fri eller troligen bärare. Har en hund varit sjuk i Fanconi så är den så där finns inget troligen. Nu har man äntligen hittat den mutation som gör denna sjukdom och vi har nu ett gentest. Detta gör att om resultatet säger fri så är hunden fri! Helt underbart!

A new test, a direct Fanconi gene test is now available through the OFA. The OFA is working on a process to order the test on previously stored DNA. However a dog’s owner should go ahead and order the test now thr...ough the OFA website. Dogs that have not been tested before will need to have a cheek swab kit ordered via the OFA, returned, and the direct gene test will be run.

Results will be sent to the owner, and displayed on the OFA website. To be able to differentiate the new direct test results from the Linked Marker test results, the new direct test will be resulted as Clear, Carrier or Affected. The term “probably” will no longer appear on the certificate and there will no longer be an Indeterminate category.

We should all congratulate Dr. Johnson for his work locating the gene and the genetic alteration responsible for recessive Basenji Fanconi syndrome. There is still work to be done to further characterize the mechanisms that cause the disease to manifest, and whether there are things we as Basenji owners and breeders can do to ameliorate the onset and severity of the disease. We hope everyone will want to support Dr. Johnson as he continues this important work to the benefit of our breed."
